Unarmed Media is a full service film and digital media company specializing in the creation, production and distribution of innovative feature length and short format projects that include narrative and non-fiction film, commercials, music videos and original programming. Focusing on creative development, production and distribution, Unarmed turns the lens onto extraordinary individuals and stories, creating powerful and engaging film and media that reaches a global audience.

 

Francesco Saviano:  Founding Partner, Producer

 

ACAM2102Francesco Saviano has been working in New York’s film industry for fifteen years as an actor, writer, director, and producer for both studio productions and his own independent production company. His films have appeared in premiere festivals both in the United States and abroad – most recently at the Tribeca Film Festival and the New York Television Festival in NYC. He has produced and directed award winning narrative films as well as directed documentaries, music videos, commercials and original content for clients such as Sony RED, Deepak Chopra, Grey Advertising, Peace Research Institute Oslo, Lincoln Center, PBS, Clinton Global Initiative and countless other innovative individuals and organizations. Through Unarmed, as well as through his strong relationships within the filmmaking and entertainment industry, Francesco has been directing and producing films and commercials all over the world. His narrative feature films, along with a slate of original series and documentaries, are currently in production or scheduled for production through 2017.

 

Marika Hacking: Partner, Cinematographer, Editor

 

ACAM2939 (1)Marika Hacking is a New York based filmmaker and illustrator with over ten years of experience in the entertainment industry. Along with her commercial work for top brands and non-profit organizations, Marika has produced documentary film and media content in the Middle East, Asia, Central America and Europe. In parallel with her partnership with Unarmed Media, she works at the Jerome L. Greene space – WNYC/WQXR’s live performance space – and also as an illustrator and graphic designer. Her solo art exhibitions have been shown in New York, San Francisco and Sweden. Marika is currently curating the acclaimed video series “Unarmed Media Presents” which highlights the artists, athletes and personalities in the Unarmed Media network.

 

 

Sam Petersson:  Partner, Producer

Working with clients ranging from commercial advertisement agencies to NGOs and non-profits, Sam has produced award-winning content across the globe. With his strong client relationships and close connections to top media professionals, he brings invaluable experience to Unarmed and their slate of unique and varied projects. In addition to his partnership with Unarmed Media, Sam is a senior producer with the San Francisco based advertising agency MUH-TAY-ZIK | HOF-FER.

 

 

 

David Cieri:  Composer, Musical Director

 

Screen Shot 2015-09-18 at 4.24.27 PMDavid Cieri has been working with Ken Burns as a composer for Burns’ documentary films released on PBS, including the Emmy Award winning National Parks series, an addendum to Baseball: The Tenth Inning, Prohibition and The Roosevelts. Currently he is working on the score for the next Ken Burns film on The Vietnam War due to premiere in 2016. Cieri has composed scores for over 40 films since 2008 including The Ewers Brothers’ History of Colby College, Michael Buscemi’s Doc C and B61, Francesco Saviano’s Two Birds and Raymond De Felitta’s Booker’s Place – A Mississippi Story. Cieri’s score for Booker’s Place was selected by The Academy of Motion Pictures as a contender for an Oscar Nomination in 2013.

 

 

 

David Angstadt: Creative Assistant

 

David Angstadt is a recent graduate of the University of Southern California’s prestigious School of Cinematic Arts, where he studied film theory, production and screenwriting while interning at Color Force, the production company responsible for the Hunger Games franchise. An aspiring writer and actor, he studied improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, sketch comedy at the People’s Improv Theater, and acting at the Atlantic Acting School, all located in New York. Additionally, David has worked as a production assistant on many commercial and music video sets and has been a valuable member of the Unarmed team since November 2014.
